Artists of the Black Hills was founded in 2005 as an organization of professional artists, artisans and galleries with a common goal of establishing the Black Hills region as a prime source for art of the highest quality. To that end, the ABH sponsors a major Annual Show and Sale, and has undertaken a nationwide advertising campaign. In addition, we work with regional arts organizations, state agencies, and commercial entities to foster greater growth and appreciation of the Black Hills as an art center.

Membership in the ABH is open to those artists whose work demonstrates a consistently superior level of competence in their chosen medium. Residency in the Black Hills region is not a requirement for membership, but a history of a presence in the area through gallery or museum showings, or other public installations is necessary.
