Although I do enjoy doing realistic sculpture, I find it more fulfilling to work with the flowing imagery of the abstracts which make up the majority of my work.

I seek to create uncluttered forms which represent the essence of a relationship, a concept, or an action. Many of these are social relationships, introspective challenges or spiritual ideas.

My goal is simple: to bring more beauty into this world than I take from it.

DuChateau is a self taught sculptor who first gained public attention with a life size piece he did at the age of 12. After a period of sculpting in wood, a visit to the Crazy Horse mountain carving in SD inspired him to take up stone carving. He has worked in marble, alabaster, and granite. Presently he is focused mainly on sculpting in bronze.
A background in commercial construction management has proven valuable in working on a 36 foot tall, 50 foot long Woolly Mammoth which he is erecting near Hot Springs, SD, where he lives and operates a business enlarging monumental sculptures for other artists.
