I begin from a belief that the human form is the elemental ground of art,  and that line, form, and gesture have the power to engage and strike a chord that resonates within.

     I seek forms that transcend mere physical likeness and give insight to the true nature of my subject and to the nature common to all.

 
   


    Jim Maher has produced many public and privately commissioned works,  primarily in South Dakota.  Significant among them are sculptures for the City of Presidents Project,  Avera Sacred Heart Hospital,  SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, and the D.C. Booth National Historic Fish Hatchery.
