| A native of
Nebraska, artist James Whartman has lived his life on the high plains of
the western US. Jim's early childhood drawings and a fascination for the outdoors
eventually grew into today's award-winning paintings. |
|
| After working
for some 25 years as a commercial and graphic artist, Jim now devotes his
time to his easel paintings. Scenes of the American west, its land, people,
and wildlife are portrayed with honesty and originality. Hiking and
exploring the region provides the inspiration for his work, and whether from
his studio or done 'plein air', Jim's paintings capture the spirit of the
land and its life. His appreciation and reverance for the natural world
are found in every painting. He feels that nature is the crown of our creator
and its wildlife are the jewels. |

| I try to portray
the world around me in a fresh and original way. I seek to create exciting
and unique visual statements that express my feelings of a scene.
Through the use of established principles of painting, ie. composition,
drawing, color, and texture, I try to make my own personal statements
on the world that I see. My ultimate goal is to leave the viewer with
a bit of the inspiration that I felt in the creation of the painting. |
