| Artist and sculptor
John Lopez first picked up the sculpting bug in college some fifteen years
ago. Since the first sculpture John created, he has worked toward perfecting
a realistic and life-like style to his work. Lopez has gone on to create
bronze sculptures for high profile projects including eight life-size presidential
monuments for The City of Presidents in Rapid City and two half-life
size rodeo monuments for the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs.

| After losing his Aunt Effie in a
tragic car accident, he went home to the family ranch and helped design
the family cemetery in which his aunt would be buried. The methods used
in working on this family project inspired John to create sculptures in a
new medium of fabricating images using scrap iron and other found objects.
He began to assemble wild life and ranch animals in the area from
a multitude of objects found the ranch. John kept the life-like proportions and natural movements of the animals, but loosened the textures, and in the process, stumbled upon a medium in complete harmony with this ranch-raised artist. Immediate public acceptance of this new body of work has added a new genre to the portfolio of this innovative artist. |
