In my early years as an artist I worked in oil but after being exposed to watercolor, playing around with the medium and developing my own style, I found it to be quite challenging but also very rewarding. It has allowed me to create designs and colors that I was unable to obtain with any other medium. |
My style is very detailed to a point and then I loosen up so the viewer can use their imagination on the painting. To produce a good watercolor requires thorough research of what colors to use and how to execute the painting before starting. I like challenges so I am always trying new subject matter and ways to paint it. |

Marion Toillion has always been interested in art. She was encouraged at an early age by her gradeschool teachers. Having grown up on a farm, animals. wildlife, and people were fun to draw and paint. These remain an interest as well as the landscapes and flowers of South Dakota. |
In developing her own style of painting, Marion has studied a number of years under well known artists and taken lessons in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Manila, Philippines. Her paintings hang in private collections throughout the world. She is a signature member of both the Northern Hills Watercolor Society and the Artists of the Black Hills. |
