Pleinair painting on Sheep Table Mountain,
South Dakota Badlands.

Influenced by the American artists of the early 20th century and a professional artist for over 30 years, Mick B. Harrison has gained a reputation as a prolific and accomplished painter of western and prairie subject matter. Sometimes with humor, always insightful and with professionalism, Harrison's paintings tell a story and reflect the artist's rural upbringing. In addition to his studio paintings,  his interest in pleinair (outdoor) painting and oil "studies" using a loose style has proven popular with his collectors.

Mick uses a direct approach to his subjects:   "I'm particularly interested in maintaining a certain hardiness in my work, much like the nature of my subject matter."

Founding member and current president of the Artists of the Black Hills, Mick Harrison paints from his studio in Belle Fourche, South Dakota,  near the Black Hills.
