This Painting is based partially on ideas expressed by Paul Bowles in his novel, Sheltering Sky, about the frightening abyss from which the sky protects us. It is also an expression of my attitudes in regard to the terrible uncertainty of our society and the constant/recurring irruption of violence within it.
