South Dakota has wind. That is an understatement. Many times the wind causes life altering damage. It also creates beauty.
I captured this photograph along the road near my house on the western SoDak prairie. I live between the White and Bad Rivers and the landscape rolls and dips, allowing the snow to roll with it. The first major winter storm of the season had just passed through, blanketing the landscape in fresh white. The winds followed, sweeping the snow into sculptures. I’m fascinated at how the wind sculpts the snow. A temporary piece of art crafted by intricate design.
