I am inspired most by the natural world and travel. The Mediterranean with its colors, patterns, unfamiliar plant life and ancient landscapes is a rich source of inspiration. As is my life in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
I work in a variety of techniques from encaustic to printmaking. The rich silvery line of graphite and the vibrant color of monotype are equally compelling. I look for structure, the quality of light, and how things exist in space when I am working from observation. Color and expressive mark making inspire me when I am creating monotypes or painting en plein air in my garden.
