About:

BFA at The University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas
From birth through high school was spent in Georgetown, Texas. Rolling hills, limestone bluffs, big cumulous clouds in soft blue skies. No TV, computers, but lots of things to do and think about. A small, quiet safe time and place – but no art in the schools. The University of Kansas was a grand experience. Upon graduating, I married a fellow art student. Nine years later, we moved from Lawrence, Kansas to Rapid City, SD
Art in private collections across the US and in Europe.

“The Black Hills, it’s diverse inhabitants are a home to constantly relish. The flow of the land, wind, light in this immense blue sky, all inform Bowman’s art. My fascination with the intaglio printing process and it’s complexities provide me with challenges I enjoy. I find the serendipity of this process exciting, exploring options leading to solutions not anticipated. Creating the copper plate, mixing pigments, grinding ink, selecting paper then hand printing on my own press maintains the integrity of the original expression unique to this artist. Locally my art can be found in Blue Dog Frame & Gallery-now knows as Deadwood Lead Art Center in Lead, South Dakota, Art of the Hills Magazine, Hill City, Sylvan Lake Lodge, Custer State Park, SD, The Black Hills Community Theater in Rushmore Mall, Black Hills Piano Gallery and Bowman’s West Wind Studio by appointment in Rapid City, SD“
